Ο μικρός Richard: Κάποιος να τον αγαπήσει!

December 17, 2013Little Aimee was found in Kifissia, northern Athens: another small kitten struggling for survival on the streets. But this kitten faced more than the usual challenges – not only was her vision obscured by infection, but most of her toes appeared to have been severed. We will never know what happened to this poor kitten, whether her paws got caught somewhere, or her toes were eaten off by builders’ lime (often left out uncovered at building sites) or worse.
We rushed her to the vet, where she stayed for 3 weeks, getting treatment for her eyes and paws. During this time – and even more so at her foster home with our foster mum extraordinaire Sydney – she blossomed from a shy hissing creature into a purring little beauty who loved nothing more than lying in your lap getting lots of strokes and attention.
We were all thrilled when, thanks to the efforts friends across Europe touched by her plight, this sweet-natured and affectionate kitten found her forever home in Switzerland with her new brother, Nemo. By all accounts, she loves her new home and they all love her. But what’s not to love about this adorable kitty?
Dear one-eyed Lucky is true to her name. She was found hiding in a crevice under the pavement on a busy Athens thoroughfare. One of her eyes was popped out painfully from untreated infection, she was just skin and bones, and terrified. It took a Nine Lives volunteer some time to manage to grab the poor soul who was darting – spitting and whacking out in self-defence -between her ‘safe’ hole and dangerously into the road.
The vet operated to remove the eye as it was past repair, and during her stay at the clinic she transformed into a plump, healthy, and extremely affectionate kitty. She then moved into foster care, where she flourished – initially under the name Cornelius as she was mistaken for a little boy, then with her new name and identity, Lucky, the name chosen by her adopters Gemma and Paul.
With her charming personality and affectionate nature, she had such good fortune to find her forever home with this lovely, caring couple, their three cats and dog named Daisy. She’s already venturing out into the garden for short periods and simply adores her new family. Lucky indeed!
