March 7, 2025Pytheas made it!
This beautiful boy appeared in November at a colony cared for by one of our volunteers. His condition was so bad that it would be almost impossible for anyone to recognize him looking at his current photos.
Ηis condition was critical and his life up until then clearly unlucky. Around 7 years old and FIV positive, he had an extremely weakened immune system that allowed various infections and health disorders to overwhelm him for months, maybe even years.
He was given slim chances, but he surprised us all – he is now a healthy, long-haired beauty! It took 10 days of hospitalization, surgical removal of the polyps that were bothering him, 3 months of intensive medication.
These were also the first months of his life in a warm and safe environment with good food! But also the first time he had human company, something he was not used to and (initially) was very fearful of.
He is no longer so fearful. He is shy and introverted, but at the same time incredibly calm and kind! He likes birdwatching by the window and chasing his favorite toy – or his tail!
He needs time and space to get comfortable and begin to show his true character. He may never become the most cuddly boy, but he will definitely love you and keep you company, without demanding too much from you!
Pytheas taught us that every cat deserves a chance, no matter how unfortunate and difficult a life he had in the past. We love him and want to see him thrive in his forever home, and have a long, happy and safe life far from the streets. Give him this chance!
Pytheas was born in 2018. He is FIV+ and was found with a severely weakened immune system, chronic respiratory tract issues, and ear polyps. He is now healthy.
